We love bicycles. Simplistic. Practical. Beautiful.

I started building custom bicycles in 2010 and soon it became Starling & Hero. At S&H Custom, now based in Johannesburg, we focus on custom classic racers, quality single speed & fixed gear and (soon) cyclocross bicycles. Here, we also stock a variety of collected and vintage cycling goods and accessories.

In Cape Town we have the Starling & Hero Bicycle Café, a classic café for the everyday passenger. Here we also sell classic Schwinn cruisers, second hand and restored bicycles as well as basic parts and accessories. Come by bicycle and get 10% discount on your food and drink (but please remind us when you pay). The Cape Town space also features the Bicycle Co-Op, a small bicycle self service point where we have a bicycle stand, work bench and tools available for anybody to use at their convenience.
